  • Bachelor's in computer science or related field, or equivalent required
  • 5+ years of experience in software development in C++
  • 5+ years of experience with client-server and peer-to-peer architectures, network security, basic network protocols (e.g. TCP/IP and UDP), object-oriented design.
  • Knowledge of memory management, multiple processor use, runtime optimization, concurrency and synchronization.
  • Experience designing APIs for SDKs and S2S
  • Solid computer science background including algorithm and data structure usage
  • Excellent debugging and optimization skills working in a clustered server environment
  • Experience with relational database
  • Experience with containers, orchestration, and service proxies
  • Familiarity with Linux, AWS, Kubernetes

Software Engineer - Matchmaking Services

What they want you to do: 

The Gameplay Services Team develops services and SDKs in collaboration with EA's game studios for matchmaking, stats and leaderboards, achievements, game replays, VOIP, and game networking. As a Software Engineer, you will build scalable, distributed server-side systems that provide functionality to our millions of customers and work on creative improvements to keep our systems at top-notch performance. You will report to the Senior Software Engineering Manager and support AAA game titles like FC, Madden, Battlefield and more.

Responsibilities:

  • You will enhance and add scalable features to EA's existing online services for matchmaking.
  • You will design and implement major components in our large-scale distributed backend service.
  • You will communicate with engineers from across the company to deliver the next generation of online features for both established and not-yet-released games.
  • You will provide maintenance and support for all services.
