The Software Engineering Manager in our Space division is an exciting opportunity to join a growing Canadian-based tech organization. As a leader of multiple teams of software developers, you will be involved in providing innovative solutions to the world’s leading satellite operators. You will provide a technical vision for multiple systems and work on projects with technical leads and their teams to develop and deliver high-quality mission-critical systems to our clients. You will demonstrate technical leadership through leading technical work on proposals and software architectures. You will oversee people management for 40+ software developers working on multiple teams including being directly involved in hiring and staff performance management.

  • Work with Business Manager and VPs to provide a technical vision for multiple systems
  • Provide technical oversight on multiple, typically related, projects. This includes working with customers, directing the development of software architectures and monitoring implementations
  • Lead the technical effort on proposals including collaborating with customers to define their requirements, defining the approach and writing technical volumes
  • Mentor software team leads
  • Review the work of software developers as part of performance management
  • Foster psychological safety on teams and encourage professional growth of staff
  • Manage recruiting, training, and staff performance
  • Manage the selection and adoption of tools, technologies, and techniques
